Diabetes

Diabetes is a condition of disordered metabolism, typically due to a mixture of environmental and hereditary causes, resulting in unusually high blood sugar levels. Blood glucose levels are set by an intricate interaction of various chemicals and hormones in the body, including the hormone insulin. Diabetes develops due to a diminished creation of insulin or resistance to its effects. Symptoms include excessive urine production, blurred vision, resulting compensatory thirst and increased fluid intake, unexplained weight loss, lethargy, and changes in energy metabolism. The disease itself and its treatments can cause many complications, which include, cardiovascular disease, chronic renal failure, retinal damage, nerve damage, and micro vascular damage which may cause erectile dysfunction and poor wound healing. Dr. Motazedi has over 25 years of experience treating patients with complex diabetic problems.
